The crew of four, who were on a yacht named Voyager, sent out a call for help just after 9.30am today when their vessel experienced total electrical failure.

Lowestoft lifeboat coxswain John Fox said: “We soon reached the yacht, which was a mile-and-a-half north east of the harbour and found that the yacht crew were unable to start their auxiliary engine, which was necessary for them to navigate safely into the port in breezy onshore wind conditions.

“We connected a tow line to the craft and towed her into the safety of the yacht basin, where a number of other visiting Dutch yachts were moored.”
