Their signature tune I Believe in a Thing Called Love from 2003 has stormed to the number one slot in America’s download rock charts after the song featured in an advertisement during the Superbowl, which was watched by an estimated 100 million people across the Atlantic.

Lead singer Justin Hawkins said he was “pinching” himself and could not “believe” the fresh success of I Believe in a Thing Called Love.

The song featured at half-time in a Samsung advert for the new Galaxy phone.

The Darkness, which also features Lowestoft’s Dan Hawkins and Ed Graham and Scotsman Frankie Poullain, reformed last year and are on tour in America.
