Lowestoft Mayor’s Ball proves a great success
A boost has been given to the mayor of Lowestoft’s charities following the annual Mayor’s Ball.
Lowestoft Mayor Nick Webb and his councillor wife Sarah, welcomed 160 people from the community of Lowestoft to an evening of fine dining and dancing on March 18.
The black-tie event, supported by the East of England Co-op Funeral Services, took place at The Hotel Victoria in Lowestoft.
Every year the elected mayor chooses two charities they would like to raise funds for throughout their term in office.
For his 12-month service, Mr Webb selected the Lowestoft Alzheimer’s Society, which helps increase awareness of dementia.
And he also chose to raise funds for The Lord Kitchener Memorial Centre, which has supported ex-servicemen and women for generations - proceeds from the ball will help protect the future of this historic building and allow it to serve ex-servicemen and women for years to come.
Mr Webb said: “The evening was a tremendous success and I was thrilled to see so many friendly faces from around Lowestoft. I’d like to say a special thank you to the East of England Co-op funeral services team for their generous support as well as the many local businesses and volunteers, without whom, this special evening would not have been possible.”
Diners enjoyed a three course meal while taking in the stunning scenery of the east coast accompanied by a high energy, live music performance by The Invisible Band.
Mayor Nick Webb and guests also enjoyed a raffle full of prizes, which were kindly donated by businesses from around the region.
Andrew Dawes, head of Specialist Retail at East of England Co-op Funeral Services, said: “We are proud to offer support to residents of Lowestoft when they need it most and it was our pleasure to support this fantastic event, which raised vital funds for such worthwhile local causes.”
