A Burglar who stole rings of great sentimental value to the owner during a break-in at a house in Lowestoft has been jailed for a total of 20 months.

John Fisher kicked out a door panel of the house in Chichester Drive on August 1 and after an untidy search made off with property including 20 cash, a camera and three rings which had belonged to the owner's deceased grandmother and mother who was in a nursing home.

'The items were irreplaceable,' said Michael Crimp, prosecuting at Ipswich Crown Court.

Fisher, 28, of Southfield Gardens, Lowestoft, admitted burglary and was jailed for 16 months. He also admitted handling a stolen credit card and using it to dishonestly obtain property and was jailed for a further four months to run consecutively.

Hugh Vass, for Fisher, described the burglary as opportunistic and said his client wished to apologise to the people who had suffered as a result of his behaviour.
