Adam Davies, 27, will be raising funds for two charities - Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer - in memory of Neil Aldred, also known as DJ Dominator.

Neil, described by his family as “amazing, funny and talented,” was known across the world for his musical talents, and died on June 8 last year after being diagnosed just a few weeks before.

Adam said: “My brother had back pains for months but just ignored them putting it down to his lifestyle of being a printer which involved lifting heavy things as well as being a professional drum and bass DJ at the weekends.

“But one day he had enough and went to the doctors, after two weeks of tests and being in and out of hospital they diagnosed him with bowel cancer.

“My family has suffered a great deal and I don’t think it will ever sink in for us. Neil leaves behind a 18-month-old son who will never get to know his father.

“I want to help others and make sure others are aware of this illness and hopefully catch it early enough to stop it progressing.”

Adam will be running the 26.2 mile course in London on Sunday, April 22.

He said: “I have never been a keen runner but have always watched the London Marathon on TV with my mum and thought one day I would like to give it a go.

“After realising life can be short, I thought I would give it a go in memory of Neil and raise money for charities that do some great work.”

Adam will be listening to some of Neil’s music as he completes the course.

He said: “My favourite memories of Neil are when he and my sisters used to let me go to the raves he put on. I used to love listening to him DJ, I even bought my own decks because I wanted to be like him one day.

“I will use his music to inspire me to keeping going and get to the end.”

Adam is hoping to complete the course in under four hours and has set a fundraising target of £2,500. So far has raised more than £1,800.
