A new plan has been submitted to turn a former pub into residential accommodation.
The proposals, which have been lodged with North Norfolk District Council, concern the former Red Lion at Upper Sheringham, which is owned by the Trustees of John Ashton's Childrens' Settlement Trust. The plans are for renovation to the first floor flat and conversion of the ground floor into another residential unit.
The building was a pub until April 2006, when it closed. An application was made in 2007 to convert it into three cottages but planning permission was refused.
A statement with the new application says: 'Whilst works have been undertaken to ensure it remains weather tight, it is inevitably continuing to deteriorate and this seems to have become more rapid during the last twelve months. The pub now appears entirely neglected.'
