More than 100 people, almost 50 dogs and a llama set out on a bright New Year’s Day to enjoy fine weather and raise money for Help for Heroes.

Fressingfield’s annual sponsored dog walk has already raised more than £58,000 for charity over the last 18 years and this year’s event looks set to be another success, with about £500 collected in donations alone.

Organiser Carol Wyatt said: “It went brilliantly, and the weather was on our side as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had lots of donations on the day, and we still have the sponsorship money and raffle to add to that.”

The five-mile circular walk finished at the Swan Inn where free hot soup and bread were served to the walkers.

Carol added: “We’re very grateful to Matt and Sam who run the Swan and served free soup to 60-odd people, to Harleston Budgens for providing some of the ingredients and to Fressingfield Stores for donating the bread.”
