There will be lots of laughter and a bit of Norfolk squit on the airwaves this Boxing Day as a special edition of the game show Should the Team Think? is broadcast.
The panel game show was brought out of the archives and staged on Cromer Pier in October to mark writer, broadcaster and entertainer Keith Skipper’s 50 years at the heart of Norfolk life.
David Clayton, editor of BBC Radio Norfolk, chaired the show which is to be broadcast on the station at 1pm today, and which saw Keith team up with the Rt Rev Graham James while entertainer Olly Day teamed up with BBC radio and television presenter Carol Bundock.
“The idea of bringing the show back was to mark 50 years of me being a nuisance in Norfolk. I thought it was a good way to pay my penance!” Keith joked.
He said under the “official entertainment secrets act” he could not give too much away about the show ahead of its broadcast, but said: “People will be able to enjoy a Norfolk tonic to go with all the rest of the excesses over Christmas and New Year.”
He said they had a great time recording the charity show and he was looking forward to hearing it on the radio.
“It was great fun. It was a nice way to mark my milestone with a night of good old-fashioned Norfolk entertainment in good company and for a good cause,” he said.
“When you are doing these shows you aren’t aware of being recorded and a lot of it was off the cuff so it is difficult to recall. I cannot remember too much of what happened now. I shall be among the most interested of listeners because I’ve never heard it before!”
The show was part of the Skip Ahoy! evening at the Pavilion Theatre on Cromer Pier on October 11, and the event raised more than £5,000 for the EDP We Care Appeal which gives out grants to help carers in Norfolk.
Over the past 12 years Keith, his family, friends and associates have raised more than £23,000 for the charity.
