A lifeboat crew in north Norfolk was called out to the coast this morning to a distressed woman who was believed to be threatening to walk into the sea.

The Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat crew was called out to the Waxham area at about 8.40am today by Humber Coastguard and launched at about 8.48am.

The crew did a search of the coast line from Sea Palling to Winterton Ness Coast Watch Station and back to Sea Palling before heading north. Mobile coastguard units from Happisbourgh, Winterton and Mundesley, as well as the police with support from the police helicopter, assisted in the search.

All units were stood down at around 10.04am as the woman reported to be heading to the coast had been tracked to an inshore location and was found safe and well.
