Following the phenomenal success of West Norfolk’s first ever sportive cycling event in June this year, Cycle Together Sandringham will be back on Sunday 13 July 2014, and organisers promise it will be even bigger and better.
The event for disabled and non-disabled people will retain many of the features that attracted over 500 entrants in 2013, raising over £17,000 for Park House, Leonard Cheshire Disability’s respite hotel at Sandringham for people with disabilities and their carers.
Cycle Together will again start and finish in the grounds of Park House at Sandringham, featuring routes created by experienced local cyclists designed to take full advantage of the charms of Norfolk’s quiet back roads and villages.
There will be short, gentle rides suitable for families or recreational cyclists, and longer routes up to the North Norfolk coast to challenge more experienced club and sportive cyclists.
Feed stations at Holkham for the longer routes, and Great Bircham for the shorter distances, will again feature Park House’s home-made flapjacks as well as other nutritious snacks and energy drinks. As in 2013, there will be ample free parking, mechanical and medical support along the way for those that need it, and a great welcome with goodie bags and entertainments at the finish.
Phil Davies, cycling enthusiast and Park House fundraiser said: “With preparations well underway we are very excited about Cycle Together Sandringham 2014.
“Improvements planned for 2014 include better maps and signage, more facilities for families with children on shorter routes. Our 90 mile route will be lengthened to achieve the more iconic 100 mile distance.
“There will be easier sign-up and better on the day registration; and other refinements based on the feedback we received from this year’s event. Above all, we expect a tremendous atmosphere, with hundreds of cyclists taking part in a day to remember, all for a great local cause.”
Full details will be available early in 2014, when entries will be taken. For more information, go to www.lcdisability.org/cycletogether or email Phil Davies on email@example.com
