A West End star with Norfolk links will line up alongside big names from sport, television and film to get involved with charity football match Jamie's Game 2 on Sunday.

Les Misérables star Rob Houchen, from Lowestoft, will perform at half-time at Carrow Road.

The former East Norfolk Sixth Form College student, who plays Marius in the world-famous show, has confirmed his support for the match – the Community Sports Foundation's second celebrity game.

He will sing two songs at half-time of the match - which is named after Jamie Abbott, an 18-year-old with Down's Syndrome and an ambassador for the charity.

Mr Houchen said: 'It is really exciting to be performing at Carrow Road and doing my bit for the foundation on what is sure to be a great day out.'

The 23-year-old successfully auditioned for Les Misérables in May 2013 and plays the principal role of Marius, a young rebel student and the love interest of female character Cosette.

The show is in its 29th year, having opened at the Barbican Theatre in October 1985, and has been seen by 65 million people in 42 countries.

'Every day I remind myself how lucky I am to have been given this opportunity being so young and newly out of drama school,' he added.

The stage star's step-father was involved in the early days of Football in the Community – an organiations which became the Community Sports Foundation in 2011.

Scheduled to appear at Jamie's Game 2 – which will raise funds for those with disabilities to get involved with sport – are actor Danny Dyer and television star Dan Osborne, as well as ex-Canaries Darren Huckerby and Darren Eadie, whose company Sellebrity helps to run the event.

Last year's event raised more than £60,000 for the foundation.

Jamie's Game will take place at Norwich City Football Club on Sunday and the kick-off is at 3pm. Tickets are priced at £1 for under-17s and £10 for adults.
