Ale lovers have toasted the memory of a long-serving volunteer who helped a beer festival become a fixture in the Norfolk calendar.
Derek Evans died earlier this year after 12 years of helping at Larling Beer Festival, which served more than 1,000 drinkers again this weekend.
Mr Evans’ was remembered by the festival with a charity donation, with more than £500 being raised for MacMillan Cancer Support through the collection of unused beer tokens.
This year’s festival drew in the crowds with the promise of nearly one hundred beers and ciders.
Local breweries from Snetterton, Wroxham and Banham were represented, while more exotic ales from as far as the Orkney Islands were also served.
Punters also had the chance to vote for their favourite, with the Lincoln Brewery’s Imperial Ale taking first prize.
Andrew Stammers, landlord, said the event had enjoyed another good year.
“We’ve been going 21 years and this year was really good. The sunshine didn’t hurt and the music we had on over the three nights went down brilliantly,” he said.
