Konectbus will take over the Norwich bus station travel desk after Christmas after reaching agreement with Norfolk County Council.
Council staff have been running the desk since the withdrawal of National Express in October.
As well as providing travel information for all operators, Konect staff will offer card-only (not cash) ticket sales for Konect, Anglian and Norwich Park & Ride services.
First Bus has decided not to offer their tickets for sale through the travel desk from 27 December. (First tickets will remain on sale at Norwich Bus Station travel desk until close of business on 23 December.)
David Harrison, Norfolk County Council cabinet member for environment, transport, development and waste, said: “We know how important the travel desk is to passengers, so I am very pleased that we have been able to secure its future at Norwich Bus Station.
“This is a good deal for Konectbus and for the county council. The council will be subsidising Konect to provide the travel desk service, but this is a lot less than the cost of staffing the desk ourselves. When National Express withdrew in October our staff willingly stepped in to keep the desk going. This has certainly been appreciated by customers, and I would like to add my own thanks as they return to their normal duties after Christmas.”
Norfolk County Council staff will be on the desk up to and including Monday, December 23. The desk will then be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day before reopening under the new management on December 27.
