Knifeman who demanded phone in Costessey fled empty-handed when victim fought back

A would-be robber threatened a man with a knife but fled empty-handed when his victim fought back.

It happened in Richmond Road, Costessey, between 7.45pm and 8pm on Saturday.

The victim was walking past another man, at the junction of East Hills Road, when the man asked for the time.

When the victim got his phone out to check, the offender threatened him with a knife and demanded the phone.

There was a struggle and the victim ran off. Nothing was stolen.

The offender is described as white, of medium build, between 5ft 11ins and 6ft 1ins tall, with dark brown stubble and was wearing a black hooded top and a hat.

The offender may have suffered a facial injury during the struggle.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed this incident or saw the offender beforehand or afterwards.
