Heel flips, tail whips and all manner of skating moves have filled King's Lynn's newly renovated skate hall.
The Kaset Skating and Music Community, formerly known as the shed, is open for free today (Saturday, May 27) following a six-month closure for a £290,000 facelift.
Hundreds of young people have visited the centre throughout the day equipped with their skateboards, BMX bikes and scooters eager to try out the facilities, which include new ramps, a cafe on the mezzanine level and a new roof which should keep the hall cooler throughout summer.
Adam Garford, sports development manager, who helped create the new skatepark along with extreme sports co-ordinator Rob Hunter, said: 'It's not just a skatepark, it's a focal point in the community.
'And part of the idea of it was to reach out to the music community as well.'
Mr Garford said the hall could cater for up to 50 skaters at once, depending on staffing levels.
Devon Crawford, skate coach, said: 'We've got a jump box big air section, a half-pipe mini ramp and street-style section.
'There's a great atmosphere going on and the kids are loving it.'
Marcus Holt, 14, of Marshland St James, was among the visitors. A keen BMX rider, Marcus said he liked the new skatepark.
He said: 'It looks good.
'The new half-pipe looks nice and smooth and should be good for skateboarding.
'I used to come here all the time, so this should be cool.'
About 30 youngsters were lined up outside the centre at Alive Lynnsport for up to an hour before it opened, keen to be among the first to try it out.
An opening ribbon was cut by Carol Bower, the mayor of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
Skating coaches have been on hand to offer tips, there was a barbecue party and spot prizes were given out.
The hall will be open for skating until 6pm today.
It will transform into a live music venue featuring Norwich-based rock band Youth Killed It from 7pm to 11pm.
During half term, the centre will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 10pm and at the weekend from 10am to 6pm.
