A Norfolk artist has been chosen to help illustrate the first-ever tourist guide to the Houses of Parliament.

Freelance illustrator Donna Scott, from South Wootton, King's Lynn, spent two months producing a cut-away diagram of the Palace of Westminster, after visits to study details of the building.

'I'm a member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators and another member put me forward for it,' she said. 'I had to tender against a few other people for the job.'

Miss Scott, 34, admits the project was slightly different to her normal line of work.

'I usually do artist's impressions of things for planning aapplications,' she said. 'It was a privilege to do it, it can only be good thing for my standing as an architectural illustrator.'

The original drawing will go on display in the palace, as part of the Parliamentary art collection. The 190-page guide book is now on Sale at the Parliamentary Bookshop, for 7.50.

Commons Speaker John Bercow said: 'The Official Guide to the Palace of Westminster is an excellent resource both for visitors and those with an interest in Parliament's history and daily work. 'Its pages are filled with intriguing facts and striking images - some never seen before.'
