The Wicklewood Sharks and the Wicklewood Warriors took part in an annual charity swim, organised by Wymondham Lions, in October.

The youngsters from Wicklewood Primary School managed to raise £347 and as a thank you, the Lions gave the school a cheque for £50 to spend on a charity of their choice.

They decided to support the cause, after reading about the Evening News’ campaign to encourage readers to help thousands of people who rely on foodbanks at their time of greatest need.

Pupils Dan Snook, Ben Edwards, Hugo Lievers, Ted Cross and Olly Chaplin, along with Dan’s brother, Harry, 14, who attends Wymondham College, were given a tour of the foodbank, in Ivy Road, Norwich, before they packed a box suitable for a single person.

Parent Karen Snook said: “We went to Waitrose and bought some of the items the foodbank needed - puddings, sugar and juice. Waitrose then donated another four bags of goods.”

“It was very beneficial for the children to see where the money and the food is going.”
