Volunteers from the Wells Maltings Project have produced an eye-catching, handcrafted quilt that will be raffled off to raise money for the Wells Maltings Trust.

The idea for the beach hut quilt came from textile artist Margaret Kennedy from Little Snoring, who wanted to help raise funds for a community banner which will celebrate local heritage in a new heritage and learning centre.

Becky Jefcoate, project development manager for the Wells Maltings Project, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who has worked so hard to create it. We are very lucky to have so many talented volunteers supporting the project. There are loads more opportunities to get involved in our activity programme and we are looking for people to get involved in our oral history, community play and oral history projects over the coming months.”

Raffle tickets will go on sale soon and the draw will take place at the Wells Pirate Festival in September.
