Youngsters Solveig Oswald and Joe Bond-Preston were the guests of honour at Trowse’s Jubilee celebrations today as they took on the roles of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

Norwich Sea Cadets formed a line of honour as the two 10-year-olds, who were joined by eight-year-old Zarina Duffield dressed as the Duchess of Cambridge, arrived at Trowse Common, signalling the start of the afternoon of activities.

Families joined in games including “pin the tail on the corgi” while youngsters had fun on the bouncy castle and climbing wall.

There was live music and children showed their competitive spirit in their own mini Olympics.

Meanwhile, bakers entered royal-themed treats into the cake competition, schools pupils saw their entries to the photography competition on display and people took part in a 1950s fancy dress competition.

The day culminated with balloons released by the Norwich Sea Cadets.

Lyn Fabre, one of the organisers, said: “It’s been brilliant for the community and it’s been fantastic how many people have supported the event.”

The Diamond Jubilee Summer Fete was sponsored by Lafarge and UK Power Networks.

It was held jointly by Trowse Parish Council and Trowse Primary School with any funds raised donated to the school.
