Cromer-raised jazz musician Dave Amis will be making a special appearance with the Norfolk Youth Jazz Orchestra at a charity concert in the town’s parish church this Saturday evening at 7.30pm.

Mr Amis, whose jazz trombone skills have taken him around the world, is no stranger to the orchestra, having founded it.

Educated at the then Paston School and a chorister at Cromer, he was 17 when he went off to the Royal College of Music. Fifteen years later he was back in Norfolk, teaching brass and starting what was then the Norwich Students Jazz Orchestra, which went on win seven national awards.

Mr Amis, who has performed in venues from Berlin to Vancouver, said: “I am delighted to be invited as a guest for this special occasion, especially knowing the venue so well from my time as a chorister.”

Tickets for the Rotary organised concert are £8 on the door.
