After a staggering 460 nominations from both patients and staff, around 200 guests were in attendance at the Gorleston hospital's Remarkable People Awards, held at the Wherry Hotel in Oulton Broad.

Among the winners was dementia care liaison officer Sarah Hay, who received the Employee of the Year award and was described as a 'super ambassador' for the James Paget having been at the forefront of improvements in the care of the hospital's vulnerable patients.

'I am absolutely thrilled,' said Ms Hay after picking up her award at the ceremony on Friday, October 6.

Meanwhile, lead nurse for research Claire Whitehouse scooped the Sir James Paget Award for Innovation, a mark of recognition for her #whywedoresearch Twitter campaign.

Starting out as a local initiative to highlight the importance of healthcare research, it grew into a worldwide success with thousands of people in the research community sharing ideas and raising awareness about their work.
