On Saturday volunteers from Christians Together in Lowestoft and District could be seen wrapping people’s presents for free outside the Britten Centre.

Over the course of six busy hours the group of volunteers wrapped up a small army of Christmas gifts, which included a walking stick, picture frame and even an ironing board.

The most popular items that were wrapped at the annual festive event were health and beauty products, toiletries and onesie suits, which came in a wide range of themes such as giraffes, cats and tigers.

The group of eight volunteers were like a well oiled machine as they wrapped and stuck labels on each present and handed over a leaflet that explained the meaning of Christmas and had contact details for churches in the Lowestoft area.

By the end of the wrapping session 200 leaflets had been handed out to shoppers, many of who were stunned to find the service was free.

Margaret Poppey, chairman of Christians Together in Lowestoft and District, was pleased to see so many people had visited the wrapping stall.
