Ipswich Town have made the first move in the run-up to this season’s first Old Farm Derby with an advertising billboard trailer.

A photo showing the trailer parked outside Carrow Road, inviting fans to buy this season’s Ipswich kit, was posted from the @Official_ITFC account today.

It was accompanied by the words: “Welcome back & see you very soon! #itfc #ncfc”

The 2014-15 Championship fixture list was revealed today, with the first East Anglian Derby at Portman Road on August 23 and Ipswich making the return journey on February 28 next year.

The most recent derby matches were in the 2010–11 season when the Canaries won both games, 4–1 at Carrow Road and 5–1 at Portman Road.

The Tractor Boys last appeared in the Premier League in 2001–02.

The advertising trailer was nowhere to be seen at Carrow Road by 3pm today, and neither club’s press office had responded to requests for comment at the time of writing.

There was also no response from the @NorwichCityFC Twitter account.

Ipswich Town fans had vowed to fly a banner over Carrow Road in May “congratulating” the club on relegation, but the plane was grounded due to the weather.

  • When is a debt not a debt? Well perhaps when the same guy owns both a subsidiary football club and the parent company, which "may" be tax efficient; Its like moving money from his left pocket to his right pocket - move on.

  • Oh come on Archant, is this the best you can do? We have to put up with the Prancing Donkey idiots posting their stupid inane comments on here, we put up with old stories day after day, old news recycled, now in desperation with lack of news we have to put up with this April Fools joke because that is the best polite description I can give it. Find some decent journalists not schoolboys on Job experience!! A NON STORY!

  • I think Archant need to get a grip, I don't any of us really believed teh story about Ipswich fans flying an aroplane with a banner behind it. This latest attempt to stir up trouble between two club who need no help in that department is just silly, first of al if this photo has not been photoshoped then it's been set up or staged, the photographer would need to be quite high up to achieve the angle they have, so some equipment would eed to hae been used. I also think the truck thing would have been moved on because of it's blocking part of the path, so wouldn't have been there long enough for Archant photgrapher to get there with all theequipment mentioned earlier. Fake, Archant, you don't need to stir up trouble between these club, it's already there.

  • Tabloid journalism- why are you stirring it up? We expect this from kind of rubbish from Ipswich- I am sure their club, sponsors and kit maker will say that they had nothing to do with it.

  • They parked it there for security. Had they of parked it anywhere near Ipswich, then someone would of mugged the wheels off it for sure.

  • Your lawyer's may want to check the "criminal" comment - before it's too late, he could buy Archant with pocket money.

  • WOW! Nice to see them spending their money wisely, instead of paying off the debt they have amassed, along with the non-paying of small businesses and entities such as the Red Cross. What a deeply shameful outfit.

  • you have to give them a little bit of credit. based on all the empty seats at Portman road, if they can not shift them in Ipswich why not try and sell some in Norwich, I am sure there is a couple of Ipswich fans in Norfolk

  • 100 million in debt, run by a criminal tax exile and refusing to pay local charities. Ipswich Town, Ladies and Gentlemen. the sooner they go out of business the better.
