Today’s opening at the coroner’s court in Eastgate House, Norwich, heard that a post mortem examination gave the cause of death as due to hanging.

Deputy Norfolk coroner Jacqueline Lake said the circumstances surrounding the death of Maisie Baxter, previously known as Maisie Gooch, was that she was at home with her family in Trowse on Saturday, February 18, when she went to her bedroom.

Subsequently, a family member went to check on her but got no response and was unable to open the bedroom door.

Further efforts were made and entry was gained to the bedroom, where Maisie was found slumped on the floor.

There were no signs of life and CPR was administered and an ambulance was called.

Paramedics attended the home, but despite best efforts she could not be revived.

The inquest has been adjourned until a later date, which is yet to be fixed.
