Inquest opened into death of man whose body was found in Costessey, following 14-hour stand-off with police

A man whose body was found by police after a 14-hour stand-off in Costessey has been named as 40-year-old Kamal Nour.
An inquest was today opened in Norwich into the death of Mr Nour, who had barricaded himself into his home in Quarry Road, on the Queen’s Hills estate, on August 14.
As reported, police were called to the address following concerns for the safety and welfare of a man inside who was reportedly threatening to self harm.
Specially trained officers, including police negotiators and medical advisors, remained at the scene and were in dialogue with the man throughout the course of the day.
At about 8pm officers forced entry to the property and a man was found injured inside.
Police and paramedics made attempts to resuscitate the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The inquest heard that Mr Nour had hanged himself. The inquest will be reviewed on November 20.
