In for a penny, in for a pond! Norwich Duck Race auction taking place tonight
Fans of the annual Norwich Duck Race are in for a quacking night as the annual Break Charity auction returns for another year.
From Albert Einstein to Queen Elizaduck, pugs to penguins, businesses and local people are invited to attend the Norwich Duck Race auction tonight at the Maids Head Hotel, Tombland.
The event starts at 5pm for viewing of the ducks and the auction runs from 6pm-9pm.
With 80 weird and wonderful ducks for sale, organisers have promised “an awful lot of fun” as the event celebrates its fifth year.
Sarah Bunn, event organiser, said: “All our beautiful ducks will line up in the spotlight for the chance to find a forever home.

“Some will go to their sponsors but many will find new homes around Norfolk.
“The auction is an awful lot of fun and it’s a hilarious event - everyone is welcome, from those just wanting to have a look to those serious about buying.”
The duck race took place over the bank holiday weekend at Fye Bridge next to the Ribs of Beef pub and to date has raised £64,000 for charity.
She added: “We are really hoping to take the figure to £80,000 this year so please give generously!”
Businesses pay £100 to sponsor a duck and decorate it for the popular event - this year’s race was won by the Alan Boswell Group’s Black Swan.
Break charity is a Norfolk based children’s charity supporting vulnerable young people across East Anglia.
