A number of crashes around Norfolk this morning led to police warning drivers to be careful on icy roads.

The slip road off the A47 at Colney, on the western outskirts of Norwich, was completely blocked by a two-car crash at around 8.15am.

Two Renault Clios crashed on the slip road off the A47 in the direction of Watton. No one was injured and the vehicles were recovered shortly after 10.15am.

There were also delays on the B1113 at Fundenhall after a Renault Clio ended up on its side in the middle of the road around half a mile outside the village, in the Tacolneston direction. A BMW X3 subsequently also ended up in a ditch.

Police were called to the scene at 8.07am, with no one injured in either crash, and the scene was clear by 9.30am.

Meanwhile in north Norfolk, between Horning and Ludham, a Ford Ka ended up on its roof in a field at around 7.15am.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, on the A1062 Ropes Hill, and the car was not blocking the road.

The woman driving the car was left “very shaken up”, according to a police spokesman, but suffered no injuries and the scene was clear by 7.30am.

The spokesman said a number of other minor crashes had happened because of the icy conditions around the county this morning, and said: “When it’s really cold it may not be obvious that there is ice on the road so we urge people to slow down and take care, bearing in mind the slippery conditions.”
