Horror author Dave Moody met his fans in Lowestoft on Thursday night as he launched his new gritty post-apocalyptic book which is set in the town.

Mr Moody signed copes of Them or Us, the final part of his Hater trilogy, at a book signing sessions at Lowestoft Waterstones store in the town centre.

Them or Us is set in a post-apocalyptic Lowestoft in which survivors of a nuclear war battle crazed killers called Haters who show mercy to anyone who gets in their way.

Mr Moody set the book in Lowestoft as his mother-in-law Beccy Tipper lives in nearby Carlton Colville and on his visits there he realised the areas was the perfect location for survivors of a major disaster to set up base.

One fan of Mr Moody’s work Iain McKinnon had travelled all the way from Edinburgh to meet the author who has inspired him to write his own horror novel.

Mr McKinnon said the Hater books were good reading as they focused on normal people reacting to extraordinary situations, in which they have to make very tough decisions to survive.

After the book signing session Mr Moody, 41, from Halesowen, near Birmingham, then held a talk on his trilogy of books at a special launch event at the town’s library, which features in Them or Us.

Mr Moody released his first Hater novel in 2006.

It proved a big hit with horror fans in America, where the rights for his books were snapped up by acclaimed film-makers Guillermo Del Toro, of Pan’s Labyrinth and Hell Boy fame, and Mark Johnson, the man behind the Chronicles of Narnia series.
