Judges have boiled down more than 300 entries from across the county to a shortlist of 35.

Works range from watercolours, oil paintings, collage and photography, to woodcut and bronze cast.

Prize organizer and international art appraiser James Glennie said: “We are very pleased to have entries from around the country as well as many from our region.

“The shortlisted works show wonderful variety which will make a must-see exhibition and prove a real challenge for the judges to pick just one winner”

The judges- chief curator at The Sainsbury Centre Amanda Geitner, art adviser Nic Tyler and internationally renowned actor and Chancellor of The Norwich University of the Arts John Hurt - now face the task of picking who will win a £1,500 cash prize.

They will be announced at a private ceremony in Holt on 19 July. It will be exhibited along with all shortlisted entries from July 20-27 at The Foyer, Auden Theatre, Holt, NR25 6EA.

The full shortlist can be seen at www.holtfestival.org/art_prize
