He has spent a good part of the past 40 years serving his community and helping good causes around the world through Rotary.

And now Rotary Club of Holt and District Alan Fenton has been honoured with the organisation's highest accolade, the Paul Harris Fellowship.

Mr Fenton was presented with the fellowship, which is named after Rotary's founder, by the organisation's district governor Robert Lovick.

Mr Fenton first joined the Rotary Club of Brentford in 1977, where he became president and had held most offices when he moved to Holt in 2004. He was president of the Holt-based branch in 2009 and now heads the club service committee, and is also a club council member.

A spokesman said: 'Alan continues to work tirelessly for the objectives of Rotary in every respect, and always makes himself involved and goes the extra mile.'
