I want to complain about this content:

  • It is usually those on the front line of patient care who supply the most accurate information and who are the best advocates of the needs of patients.Historically, the ambulance trust has had a macho, bullying culture of its' senior management resulting in a climate of fear amongst front-line staff, evidenced here by the initial reluctance of staff to speak out or release their names for fear of recriminations.NHS Whistleblowers' experience is that they are invariably punished one way or the other-some ending up blacklisted, prevented from ever working again. The Francis Report detailed what can happen when management focus is on targets and not patients. It also revealed ineffective trade unions which is ironic when the Yorkshire Ambulance Trust derecognised Unite when the union was doing its' job of raising staff concerns and now a strike threatens but as never before the NHS needs strong unions. Then,we may start hearing more of the truth of what is really happening in today's secretive NHS.
