Purchase of defibrillator in Banningham ‘a real community effort’
People in a north Norfolk village rallied round to buy a defibrillator, as part of “a real community effort”.
The new piece of life-saving equipment has been placed on the corner of the Banningham Crown pub in Banningham, near Aylsham, and training sessions have been held to show people how to use it.
The pub’s landlady Jeanette Feneron said: “The money was raised by collecting the EDP Community award tokens, putting on comedy shows provided by Creative Arts East and support from farmer Geoff van Poorvliet - a real community effort.
“We are also extremely grateful to the Crab and Lobster Festival, the Aylsham show and customers at the Banningham Crown for their donations.”
The pub’s next fundraising activity is to buy outside furniture for the Cameo dementia-friendly Café in North Walsham. It meets on Thursdays and Tuesdays and supports people who are living with dementia and their carers.
