Cody Jarmy was born to parents Gemma Davison and Shane Jarmy at 7.31am on August 8, 12 months after the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s midwifery-led birthing unit (MLBU) opened its doors.

The MLBU offers a home-from-home environment in which to have a natural birth to women who are healthy with a straightforward pregnancy.

Julie Mansfield, MLBU team leader, said the unit’s philosophy was to give one-to-one care for natural births, with the security of medical assistance nearby if necessary.

A fundraising birthday party will be held on September 15.
