Norfolk pharmacies offer flu jabs on the NHS

Pharmacies across Norfolk are offering flu jabs to patients on the NHS for the first time.

More than 20 pharmacists in the county have signed up to the scheme to give seasonal flu immunisations during January to those at risk.

The decision to offer the vaccination through pharmacies comes in an attempt to vaccinate over 70pc of patients in “at-risk” groups this year.

Tony Dean, from the Norfolk Pharmaceutical Committee, said: “Pharmacies are accessible, professional and have a proven track record for delivering high quality services. The decision to offer NHS flu vaccinations through community pharmacies is a reflection of this.”

Jenny Harries, director of public health at NHS Norfolk and Waveney, added: “If you have lowered immunity or a long-term health condition such as severe asthma, a chest or heart complaint, or diabetes, then you should also get a free flu jab from your GP or approved pharmacy.”
