‘Naturist’ paramedic suspended after he flashed at waitress in restaurant near King’s Lynn in Norfolk

10:03 20 October 2012

A paramedic who undid his trousers to show a waitress his suntan and said “look no white bits” has been suspended.

Nigel Webb, who works for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST), rubbed up against the woman while on standby waiting to take on emergency calls at the Little Chef restaurant on the A17 near King’s Lynn.

Webb complimented the waitress on her own tan and told her he did not wear underwear as he was a naturist, the Health and Care Professions Council heard. He then followed her into the disabled toilets and removed his trousers, saying “look no white bits”.

Webb was suspended for 12 months, after the tribunal found his actions were sexually motivated.

Panel chairman Dereck Adrian-Harris said: ‘The panel found that this level of intimate conversation by Mr Webb took it beyond the ‘banter’ or ‘chit chat’ level and onto the level of inappropriateness.”

Webb, who did not attend the south London hearing, denied all the charges against him but was found guilty by the panel.

An ambulance spokesman said: “As soon as the allegations came to light the member of staff was immediately suspended while a police investigation was carried out.

“When that concluded without any charges being brought we issued a final written warning which was changed to a first written warning on appeal. We are now going through the correct processes in light of the HPC suspension to manage the situation.”
