An ambitious fundraising appeal for a lifesaving charity was launched today in Norwich.
Officials from Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) are hoping to raise £100,000 to buy their first dedicated responder car and medical equipment to boost the charity's coverage of the county.
The organisation, which is run by volunteers in their spare time, provides expert medical help at the scene of road traffic collisions and other medical emergencies.
The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Keith Driver, helped launch the appeal. NARS gets called to up to 20 incidents a month and relies entirely on donations and public fundraising.
Mid Norfolk MP George Freeman added: 'I am deeply impressed by the invaluable service provided by NARS and the skills the members bring to the scene of incidents, particularly as the doctors and paramedics provide their services voluntarily in their own time.'
