A mental health awareness event for young people that featured the father of missing Gorleston student Sophie Smith has been held in the town.
The event was held at Cliff Park, and saw Martin Knowles give a talk. His 21-year-old daughter was last seen on Boxing Day and suffers from anxiety.
Other speakers were Jessica Jones, 15 and who suffers from anxiety, and her mother.
It has been set up by Gorleston-based Central Health Centre Patient Participation Group and saw 50 people attend.
Tina Cleveland, the group’s chairman, said: “The event was well received by individuals, organisations and healthcare professionals.
“A poignant speech by Martin Knowles, Nicola Jones and especially Jessica Jones really hit home to a lot of people who could relate to what they were saying, it was very emotional.
“Following on from this we are hoping to explore other avenues to explore and promote this and similar subjects.”
