North Norfolk residents will be able to quiz the chief executive of the under-fire ambulance service at a public meeting next week.

Dr Anthony Marsh, from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, will be speaking at an Act on Ambulances event on Monday at Cromer Community Centre, Garden Street, from 8pm.

The meeting will be chaired by Denise Burke who is Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate for North Norfolk and an Act on Ambulances campaigner.

She said: “We recognise that turning round the ambulance service is a long-term task and that efforts are being made to recruit and train new staff. But Dr Marsh must reassure local residents that the service has started to improve and that we will see better response times in the very near future. Nothing less will do if public confidence is to be rebuilt in the ambulance service. This meeting is a great opportunity for the public to have their say about a key local issue.”

Dr Marsh will speak for about 20 minutes before the public can ask questions.

North Norfolk District Council’s overview and scrutiny committee was told last month by trust staff that an extra 24/7 ambulance was on the road in Cromer.

The Act on Ambulance campaign started in summer 2012 following proposed cuts to numbers of double staffed ambulances in north Norfolk.
