Halesworth Scarecrow Festival returns for eighth year

Halesworth Scarecrow Festival returned for its eighth year on Saturday, October, 21.

The event, which runs until Saturday, October 28, also includes a treasure trail for children.

An estimated 75 scarecrows are being displayed down the Thoroughfare, around the Market Place, past the church and back to Angel Link.

Organiser Karen Prime said: 'It's been fantastic, even better than last year.

'The pumpkin hunt has been so popular with loads of kids wandering around and looking for clues.'

This year's festival includes Mr Men scarecrows, a Spongebob Squarepants scarecrow and a Pennywise scarecrow.

Mrs Prime added: 'It's such a simple concept but people love it.

'It is great for getting people to visit the town, especially areas of the town they wouldn't usually visit.'

Special thanks were given to Halesworth Tourism Group, Halesworth Business Connection and Halesworth and Blyth Valley Partnership.

Entry forms for the treasure hunt, costing £1, are available from Edwards restaurant and the town library.

All money raised will go towards the fund for the Christmas lights display.

The treasure hunt ends at 4pm on Saturday, October 28.
