"Looks like there will be sunny spells today but thicker cloud bringing the chance of some scattered wintry showers, quite sharp showers really."

Jim Bacon, forecaster at UEA-based Weatherquest.

A light covering of snow fell overnight and a heavy hail storm in the early hours made driving conditions difficult in some areas.

The official Norfolk Police Twitter account was used to say: “Due to sudden hail storm there are accidents both north and southbound on the A11 - driver caution as roads very slippery.”

There are reports of an accident on the A11’s southbound carriageway near Wymondham, at the Mulbarton junction, but this has not yet been confirmed by Norfolk Constabulary.

There are further wintry showers predicted for later today as well.

Jim Bacon, forecaster at University of East Anglia-based Weatherquest, said: “Looks like there will be sunny spells today but thicker cloud bringing the chance of some scattered wintry showers, quite sharp showers really, but some sunshine coming along in between.

“A moderate north-westerly breeze today that is going to make it feel quite chilly, with a maximum temperature of four or five celsius, 41 farenheit.

“As for tonight, I think clear spells and a touch of frost for a time, could be some icy patches out there as well to worry about but it will turn a bit cloudier later on.

“The wind will be a moderate north-westerly at first, becoming a south-westerly later and the minimum temperature around zero to minus-one celsius, so a touch of frost as I said, with a risk of icy patches.”
