The family of a motorcyclist who died in a collision at Haddiscoe have paid tribute to their loving, laughing, gentle and sensitive “Chubbs”.

Marcus Nichols, 23, known as “Chubbs” was killed on Friday July 11 in a crash on the A143 which also involved two cars.

In a statement this morning his family described him as their “larger than life little boy, loved so deeply by his mum and dad, brother and sister-in-law, nans, grandads and great-grandmother, uncles, aunties and cousins, who will all miss him so much.”

They described Mr Nichols as a fun-loving boy, always smiling and laughing whom it was impossible to be miserable around.

“Always the clown, but Chubbs was patient, near-hearted, sensitive and gentle and so very loving.

“This carried over into his job as a carer where these values were shown on a daily basis with everyone he came into contact with.

“Chubbs was devoted to his family. He had a brother and a group of friends that were inseparable. He was always popping in and calling out ‘Elloooo’ and would always phone if he hadn’t heard from you for a couple of days, always checking to see if you were OK.”

Mr Nichols had a lifelong passion for heavy metal and electric guitars. His prize possession was a Marshall amp and stack.

But the family said his greatest love was his ZX6 bike, which unfortunately was his last.

The accident happened at 2pm on the Haddiscoe bends, about 400 metres south of Station Road, when Mr Nichols’ motorcycle, travelling towards St Olaves, was involved in a collision with a red Audi A4 and an orange Vauxhall Corsa, both travelling in the opposite direction.

The family statement adds: “There will be a huge hole (‘a very big hole,’ says his brother) in everybody’s hearts who knew Chubbs.

“Everyone has such great memories which will never be forgotten.

“The family would like to thank everyone for the love, support and heartfelt messages received over this difficult time.”
