The Military Wives Choirs will join the “Peter Pan of Pop”, now 72, at the National Trust stately home, near Aylsham, on June 6.

The military singers, all wives, girlfriends, mothers and daughters of British forces members, rose to fame in the BBC TV series The Choir which followed the foundation of the first under charismatic choirmaster Gareth Malone.

There are now more than 80 choirs at British military bases and several of them will be joining Cliff on his Still Reelin’ and A-Rockin’ summer show tour which includes the date at Blickling where he sang to a sell-out crowd of 9,000 in July 2004.

The TV series choir went on to sell more than 550,000 copies in a week of their hit single Wherever You Are.

Cliff is said to be Britain’s most successful artist with more than 250m record sales. His many hits have included Summer Holiday, The Young Ones and Bachelor Boy.

He said he felt honoured to have the choirs join the UK tour, adding: “These women make a silent sacrifice every single day they’re away from their loved ones who are serving their country.”

A donation will be made by the promoter to the Military Wives Choirs Foundation.

Cliff is currently performing his show in Australia and takes it to Singapore and the Philippines next week.

● Tickets for the Blickling concert cost between £45 and £90, plus booking fees, and can be bought via www.seetickets.com or by calling 0871 220 0260.
