The man who died in the speedboat tragedy off Lowestoft has been named by police who have been unable to track down his family.
Peter Chambers, aged 43, of Wellesley Road, Great Yarmouth, was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon, about half an hour after his body was recovered from the water near Ness Point.
Police have not yet been able to trace his next of kin.
It is now known the boat Mr Chambers was on left Great Yarmouth harbour on Monday morning for a fishing trip.
The blue and white boat recovered from the water has been examined and the investigation to determine what happened is ongoing.
Police have taken calls from people who reportedly saw the boat in rough seas between Gorleston and Lowestoft.
At the same time, enquiries to find two Great Yarmouth men who remain missing continue.
One of the missing men is in his 40s, the other in his late 70s. It is feared all three may have died.
The search operation in and around Lowestoft, which began after a member of the public spotted a person in the water just after 2pm on Monday, has now been called off with no further plans to search again.
Three men were believed to have been on board an 18ft speedboat that was spotted upturned near Lowestoft’s Ness Point that afternoon.
Two possible theories have emerged about why the boat capsized – it struck an object or fishing lines became entangled in its propellers causing it to flip.
Yesterday, the second day of searching saw members from the Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue Team scour the coastline from Corton to Kessingland with the support of the inshore lifeboat from the Gorleston and Great Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat station.
But after three hours, the search was called off.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said there were no plans for further searches to be carried out.
