Despite increasing grey skies and a bitter north wind, snow did not start falling in Great Yarmouth until about 4pm.
By early evening there was a fresh white covering on pavements and side streets but the snow had not started settling on main roads.
Many pavements in the town remained icy from Thursday night’s fall with temperatures rising to just 1C during the day.
At 6pm snow had settled in and there was an accumulation of about 2cm in side streets in centre of town.
Police in Norwich have launched an investigation after a woman claimed in a tweet she had knocked a cyclist off their bike.
