A new chairman has been appointed at the Great Yarmouth Dementia Action Alliance as their first birthday celebrations loom.
Freelance care professional, Harry Woods, specialises in dementia and said he was “delighted and honoured” to be selected as the successor to former chairman, Trevor Edwards.
Mr Edwards acquired national recognition and accreditation for the alliance from the Alzheimer’s Society, and Mr Woods is hoping to build on these foundations to raise awareness of dementia within Great Yarmouth.
On top of this, Mr Woods is aiming to improve support services and facilities across the borough for people living with dementia and those who help care for their needs.
The alliance will be celebrating a year since its formation at the Acorn Centre in Regent Street on Thursday, July 19, from 11am until 3pm, and a number of different organisations will be attending.
