Forty-two teams representing 30 local companies attended the event, organised by the Pier Hotel at the Ocean Room.

The town’s branch of Barclays bank match-funded the amount made on the night, to push the total raised for the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind to £4,020.

Pier Hotel manager Margaret Goss helped to organise the quiz on behalf of the NNAB, where her husband, former Norwich City star Jeremy Goss, is events’ fundraiser.

He pitched into the fundraising effort, auctioning a signed Canaries shirt for £220 and a signed football for £120.

After the quiz, which was won by the Old Grenfellians, there was dancing to Hi-Lights.

Quizmasters were Pier Hotel staff Robert Brown and Graham Adams.

Mrs Goss said: “This really was a wonderful night of entertainment and fundraising. I would like to thank the Pier Hotel staff for working so hard in making it a big success as well as the teams and local businesses that supported us. We are delighted to have raised such an amazing amount of money for such a worthy cause.”
