A man who faked a burglary at his home in January and was arrested almost nine months later has now been cautioned by police.

The 33-year-old man from Gorleston told police that more than 20 items of jewellery and electrical equipment had been stolen, causing police to immediately begin an investigation.

Police were initially called on January 17. A Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said that during the investigation, “it became apparent that the burglary had not happened as reported.”

It was only nine months later, on Wednesday, Spetmeber 12, when the 33-year-old was arrested and interviewed by detectives, that he admitted faking the burglary.
