A GORLESTON garage will be transformed into a festive foodie bazaar for the second of a successful indoor farmers market.

The Christmas selling spectacular has been organised by Chris Browne, body shop manager at Pertwee and Back accident repair centre where the market is being held next weekend.

The dad of three was keen to establish a market in the town to give shoppers a chance to pick up local produce and meet with suppliers, but also to give businesses a chance to meet and greet.

His first market, held in September at the Lowestoft Road garage with 13 stall holders, was a tremendous success attracting around 300 shoppers and raising £200 for Gorleston Cubs, which his three sons attend.

And he is now hoping to build on the market’s momentum by hosting his Christmas event, which has attracted almost double the amount of stalls with 23 suppliers signed up.

Chris said: “It’s really encouraging and it’s just unbelievable the interest that’s generated from the first one. I wanted to do a Christmas one the most, it’s a nice time of year to do it and it’s a nice build up to Christmas.

“I’m very excited, if we get the same turn out as last time it will be absolutely awesome.”

Many traders will be returning for the Christmas market, including Perry the butchers from Cobholm who will be taking orders for Christmas turkeys, as well as some new faces. Among the produce on offer will be fruit and veg, cakes, honey, jams, sweets, and wine as well as various arts and crafts stalls selling jewellery, handmade organic soaps, cards and wrapping paper.

The market will again be raising money for a worthwhile cause and Chris has chosen to support the East Coast Hospice. The £10 charge for stalls will be going directly to the hospice and suppliers on the day will be donating items towards a Christmas hamper, that will be raffled off.

● The market is being held at Pertwee and Back on Sunday, December 2 from 9am - 1pm.
