A glorious weekend of weather is in store in Norfolk this weekend, with temperatures at around double what they usually are for this time of year.

As British Summer Time officially gets under way, conditions are expected to stay sunny throughout the weekend with temperatures rising to around 17C and 18C by mid-afternoon.

Weatherquest forecaster Phil Garner said it would feel a little fresher along the coast due to a gentle, easterly breeze - but that we can expect more of the same tomorrow, with temperatures getting as high as 19C or 20C in the west of the county and around 13C or 14C along the east coast.

“It is certainly different to last year, when we had a cold, easterly wind,” said Mr Garner.

“However the normal temperature values should only be around 9C or 10C, so we’re doing very nicely.”

Tourists might be advised to make the best of the weather. Mr Garner said that temperatures will come a little closer to usual for this time of year later next week, with a chance of occasional showers. It will also feel cool on the east coast.

  • Given that the temperatures in Cromer and Weybourne stuck around 9C or 10C all day, tourists would be well advised to stay inland if they want to enjoy some warmth. However, not all bad news - visitors from the Shetlands would have noticed the North Norfolk coast marginally warmer than home.
