The week long trip will see around 5,000 guides descend on the showground and 1st Freethorpe Guides is hoping to take 12 girls and four leaders.

Despite the convenient location of the jamboree, significant funds need to be raised to cover the costs of the week.

Poppy George, assistant leader, said: “They do everything from canoeing, rifle shooting and roller skating and we turn the showground into home for a week. People come from places like Japan and Germany and its a great opportunity for the girls to experience their cultures as well.”

To raise money, the group will be holding a bingo night, with a raffle and refreshments on offer, as well as many prizes.

The event will take place at Cantley Social Club at 7pm on Monday, April 9, and entry is £5 per player.
